DIFFERENT FORM OF CHURCH IN POLAND

There are not many United Methodist church buildings that are older than 600 years. But in Glaznoty, in the northern part of Poland, there is one. And it is not only a historical building but a place where new expressions of church can be experienced. The church of Glaznoty had been built in the 14th century with fieldstones. Until 1945, this building was used by the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union, which lost its legal existence in Poland…

“IT’S JUST BECAUSE GOD IS IN ME”

Last year the superintendent offered me a chance to participate the Academy for Spiritual Formation – I couldn’t go, because the dates were the same as my daughter’s wedding. And this year I wasn’t expecting, just the random conversation, like the accidental coincidence, that I would be free this time… But God doesn’t have coincidences. Probably, the topic is more relevant and the soil of the heart is ready for sowing. . “Love never ends…” I am still thinking about…

SUMMER SESSION 2016 MOSCOW THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY. FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK.

Moscow Theological Seminary of the United Methodist Church finished our two-week summer session. What a blessed and powerful experience. One story out of several meaningful events is my experience from the first week’s Saturday morning devotional. Every morning we start with a short devotion on a psalm, given by a student or faculty. We sing; we pray. The first week of the session, Dr. Sondra Wheeler from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C., taught the course “Ethical Dimensions of Ministry.” The…

TYUMEN UMC “SALVATION” PUSHED YOUTH MINISTRY

Pastor and congregation of Tyumen United Methodist Church “Salvation” pushed Youth ministry – and it is developing. Few years ago we realized that we do not have youth in the church. A few youth who attended were bored and left the church with the time. We did nothing for the youth because there were no youth in church to work with. Now we set a goal to bring youth to the church. Three years in a row we organized youth…

JOURNEY TO ANOTHER WORLD: PRISON MINISTRY IN BULGARIA UMC.

United Methodists are very scrupulous about prison ministry. Because criminals within the correctional facilities are often sentenced according to secular laws. Therefore, the mission of the church prison ministry is to use the opportunity to share Christ with the “astray souls”. God “imprisoned” these people “under the law” in order to prepare them for the faith in Christ: “Now before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith would be revealed” (Galatians 3:23, NRSV). There are…
